Event information

Once again, The Martial Arts Center is pleased to host my teachers, Kyoshi Mike Sywyk and Kyoshi Laura Sywyk for our annual Shochū-geiko in beautiful Niagara Falls. Both Kyoshi Mike and Kyoshi Laura Sywyk are highly sought-after, expert instructors.  Kyoshi Mike Sywyk currently serves as the Technical Director of the Eastern Martial Arts Coalition and as the Chiku Shibu-chō (Regional Director) for Canada for the Okinawan Kobudo Doushi Rensei Kai (OKDR).

The seminar will take place on Saturday, July 18th with Kobudo training in the morning and Karate training in the afternoon. Please bring your training tools as we have limited extra tools available. There is also a Friday night session for OKDR black belts and invited guests. In addition, at 5:30 on Friday there is a short youth karate seminar.  While the youth seminar is intended for students from our dojo, if you are traveling with your kids/family, please speak to me if they wish to attend.

After the training we are hosting some social time in the form of a BBQ and pool party at my home.  Come and refresh yourself in the pool, or relax after training in the hot tub 😊.  Bring your own drinks, but no glass bottles please (on account of the pool).  Hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided. For those who have specific dietary requirements, since you know your diet better than we do, please bring whatever you would like to eat. We’re happy to throw something on the grill for you.
